In the eyes of the law any sort of drug related activity is prohibited and is considered to be a criminal offence. Such a case came into the courts on 10th of March when a 20 years old Verona man was taken into custody on the grounds that he indulged in the selling and distribution of steroids, Oxycodone and Xanax. According to the police the arrested man is suspected to have been distributing drugs to other towns. Though on the other hand the suspect voluntary told the police that Verona is the best place, meaning this is the only town where he sells this product.
Steven Bertucci Jr., the accused, was being under surveillance by the police department for many months now, due to the lack of man power Verona police department had to call upon for further assistance by Cedar Grove and West Orange police for surveillance assistance. Steven Bertucci Jr. was stopped by the police authorities on 10th of March at 04:07 pm after the completion of their investigation.
On search of the defendants mother vehicle the police officer was able to find prohibited items in heavy quantity. Bertucci was arrested on 13 charges including drug possession, drug possession with intent to distribute, drug sales, possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm while distributing drugs, and possession of hollow point bullets (which are illegal for anyone but police to carry), according to police. Angelo Guida Jr. a 21 year old was also taken into custody by the officers as approximately 2.2 grams of cocaine was found from his possession, Angelo Guida was charged with drug possession. At the time of the arrest Angelo was in Bertucci’s motor vehicle. However, Angelo Guida was released from police custody on $500 bail.
The police report states that the officers were able to seize the certain items from Steven Bertucci Jr.’s custody. These included two Xanax, 21 Oxycodene, 112 doses of steroids. Also 97 prescriptions were recovered; these all prescriptions were for pills. 39 syringes were also taken into custody. $652 in cash was also taken by the officers as evidence which showed the fact that Bertucci was trading these steroids. Together with this a loaded 32 caliber handgun, 49 rounds of 32 caliber bullets, 10 9mm hollo point bullets and a switchblade. Doug Huber, the police chief also told to the press that certain items were also taken in to custody from his house. These included weapons and drugs. All these were serious indicators that Bertucci was a major distributor in Verona. The police department was well encouraged as they helped make society a much safer place. $50000 of fine was charged to Bertucci and was sent to Essex County jail.
