Two Western companies were heavily fined by a Judge of District Court in Idaho USA as they were involved in illegal distribution of steroids and more importantly those steroids were disguised in the form of supplements to be used for dieting purpose. These disguised steroids were eventually given to a retail company in Meridian area. The two companies fined were named as DCD, LLC or Advanced Muscle Science and R & D Holdings respectively. They were charged to be guilty on the basis of misbranding their brands for the purpose of fraud. According to the prosecutors charges on both companies were made in Idaho due to the reason that their products were further dispersed to a nameless retailer who is a large retailer basing their business on the internet in Meridian with a few warehouses in the area of Boise as well. Other reason for charging them in Idaho was that the retailer was dispersing those steroids to rest of USA from here.
B. Lyn Winmill, a US district Judge, charged the company DCD, LLC with $125000 and the other company R & D holding was charged with a fine of $21000. According to the Department of Justice reports US these amounts are nearly equal to the gross revenue which both companies have earned from the sale of fraud supplements throughout the US.
Judge Winmill has also put the company DCD, LLC on a probation period for 5 years and he has also ordered the company to form a criterion in which all the products of the company would be tested and the results would ensure that products are the ones which they are actually meant to be and there is no fraud or disguise. This probation period would also keep a check so that in future no steroids could be smuggled in the name of dietary supplements. Other company R & D Holdings is also under a probation period for 2 years and as part of their probation they are banned from manufacturing anything and are no longer able to manufacture supplement till the end of the probation period.
According to the records of the court DCD, LLC or Advance Muscle Science is a corporation which is based in Nevada and it has got its offices in other places such as Michigan and California. R & D Holdings controls their operation from their head office in South California. The Meridian based company was not identifiable according to the records of the court.
In 2009 another Meridian online retailer Bodybuilding.com accepted in front of Food and Drug Administration that 65 products of DCD, LLD and R & D Holdings do or may contain some sort of steroids.
