Baseball fans’ need for a new Attitude

Fans love their heroes in any sport. This is mostly due to the trust which the fans have in their heroes to perform well and basing on that good performance win the game. But what happens when fans, who love the game a lot, suddenly comes to know that the performance of their hero, due to which they love and follow him, is not due to his personal effort but with the help of performance enhancing drugs and steroids. This is a very serious case and when fans normally hear of it they remain stunned.

Something like that was the case in baseball in USA when after almost a decade it was came to known that players from that era were involved in taking steroids for enhancement in their performances. At that point of time there were plenty of things which raised question marks on great performances of players but nobody paid attention as all were busy in admiring the performances. But in the last ten years a lot has changed as more cases have been revealed which have made it very hard for fans to digest.

Many players who were accused of using steroids are either retired or about to retire. This revelation has forced the fans to think that all the players in that era should be scrutinized. Major reason is that the fans would think a lot while voting for their favorite players in the hall of fame and if all the players are checked then it would be satisfaction for anyone who is voting.

But now things have changed as new era stars have brought back the old passion that was associated with the game without the fear of steroids to be used by players. In fact we can say that it is the rebirth of Baseball. But still incidents like failing of Drug test by Ryan Braun have stunned a lot of his fans. Braun, aged 28, who is one of the stars of the game and also voted as Most Valuable Player in last year’s National League. Although the test didn’t showed clear results and it just showed that his test result as high as compared to normal results. Now on the basis of this he cannot be proven guilty. When Braun came to know the results he immediately took another test which showed normal results and on that basis Braun should be given benefit of doubt and one should not think of Steroids Era where steroids were in fact used and there was no catching them. But now time has changed and due to latest technology and strict penalties players would also think thousand times before taking any illegal substance.
