A British national was detained for illegally facilitating an international website in marketing around ten million baht selling illegitimate sedatives, steroids, sedatives and sex enhancing drugs.
On 4th of November, 58 year old Neil Patterson Hartley was arrested at a Beer Bar on Soi Buakaow. Later, his office was also raided where BCSD (Bangkok Crime Suppression Division) found a lion’s share worth of substances being packed to parcel overseas.
The Bangkok police had been investigating Patterson’s case for quite some time when he was finally sought down and arrested in central Pattaya’s beer bar.
Amongst the lot of illegal imports, sexual performance enhancing drugs were also found such as Levitra, Kamagra jelly and Viagra. Many were pirated versions of the actual drugs. In addition to these sex enhancing drugs, sleeping pills and very strong sedatives were also found. Many of these drugs were found to be enveloped and bottled ready to be sent overseas for distribution. Investigators found a collection of banned substances such as HG521c.
- Patterson was convicted and charged for the following reasons:
- Purchasing prohibited drugs
- Hiding illegal steroids from the authority
- Distributing illegal drugs
- Violating import export regulations
- Illegal possession of pharmaceutical license
- Working without a legal license
Apparently the website which marketed the illegal substances was operated and owned by a person named Keith Ireland from Uzbekistan. However police suspected he was behind the website which was selling illegal steroids and sex enhancing drugs. Nonetheless, a staff member of the Website, Jariya Paromphao informed police that the substances were all acquired within the country.
The police further raided another office and found additional steroids. During the raid, financial records were also uncovered which indicated Patterson was earning round about 3 millions of baht/ year

In women, steroid usage can also lead to masculine effects of virilization.
